There are places in creation that seem to invite us to slow down.

A quiet mountain trail. The sound of a river finding its way over smooth stones. Waves rolling onto the shore. The warmth of a hot spring after a long hike. In those moments, it's easier to breathe deeply, quiet the noise, and become aware that God has been with us all along.

Faith Rest Life was born from that same invitation.

Long before streaming services, smartphone apps, or online playlists, Stephen and I dreamed about creating beautiful audio experiences that would help people encounter God. We imagined recordings people could listen to while they prayed, rested, reflected on Scripture, or simply sat quietly in God's presence. Life took us in many directions, but the dream never disappeared.

Years later, through a complex and wild set of circumstances, we were married and found ourselves coming back around to this idea, dream and conversation.  In time, we walked alongside friends experiencing profound loss, debilitating illness, miscarriages, and other painful seasons.  I began asking Stephen to record simple pieces—sometimes piano and voice, sometimes prayers, scripture, or declarations created specifically for people we loved. We discovered that even though we couldn't fix someone's circumstances, we could help create space for them to be with God, find some peace, and generally relax.

Then, during a road trip in 2025, everything seemed to come together. Somewhere between conversations and miles of open road, Faith Rest Life began taking shape. Ideas flowed faster than we could write them down. We realized that maybe the dream wasn't simply to make recordings—it was to create a place where anyone, anywhere in the world, could intentionally make room to connect with God.

That's why we're here.

Faith Rest Life exists to help followers of Jesus as they cultivate a deep, daily relationship with Him. Through original music, scripture readings, guided prayer, biblical meditation, contemplative resources, and thoughtful writings, our hope is to provide simple tools that help people slow down, listen, and become more aware of God, His goodness and His nearness.

We often describe our recordings as a soundbath—an invitation to soak in God's truth, His peace, and His love. Like stepping into warm water after carrying a heavy load, our hope is that each experience leaves you feeling refreshed, lighter, encouraged, and more deeply connected with the Father.

Everything we create is handcrafted by people. We don't use AI to compose our music. Every note is played by musicians. Every recording is thoughtfully engineered. Every spoken word is offered with prayer and care because we believe creating space for someone to meet with God is sacred work.

Stephen has spent his life pursuing beautiful sound. He owns and operates a professional recording studio, works in live sound, and designs and builds professional audio equipment through Pettyjohn Electronics and Ethereal Mastering. His passion has always been helping others hear music at its very best.

I've spent much of my life leading people in worship, teaching, and serving as a worship pastor. Again and again, I've watched God meet people in quiet moments of surrender, reminding me that His presence changes us from the inside out.

Away from the studio, you'll usually find us chasing mountain views, exploring rivers, visiting the coast, searching for glaciers, cooking together, trying new recipes, or enjoying our favorite hobbies—Stephen with a gold pan in hand, me with knitting or crochet nearby. We love places that invite us to linger, and perhaps that's what Faith Rest Life is really about.

We believe God is good—always good. We believe He is present, intentional, and continually inviting us into deeper friendship with Him through Jesus. We believe Jesus is the exact representation of the Father.  To know Him is to know God our Father.  Our desire isn't simply to provide peaceful music or inspiring words. It's to create opportunities for genuine encounter, where the Holy Spirit can speak, comfort, encourage, and transform hearts.

Our deepest hope is that every person who comes to Faith Rest Life experiences God's love, finds peace, is refreshed by His presence, and discovers the freedom that comes from walking with Him—living not from striving, but from rest.
